NOTE DUE TO RAIN WE WILL BE WALKING ON SUNDAY THE 16th

It began in 2003, when a small group of 8 BBPC junior high students decided to make a difference inthe life of family affect by HIV/AIDS by building a home. In 2004 with your help, they raised $3,000 and a home was built in Zambia.  In the fall of 2005 a new crop of junior high youth believed that there was much more to be done.  They set their sights on building a well for a village in need of local access to clean water.  It was an ambitious goal, but the congregation here at BBPC rose to the occasion.  In six months the youth raised over $13, 000, more than enough for a well and 50 Zambian children were sponsored by members of our congregation through World Vision.  Last summer in 2007, a group of 14 adults and youth traveled to Twachiyanda in South Eastern Zambia to celebrate the well that was built and to meet some of our sponsored children.

A year has past since that trip and now we have over 100 children being sponsored and have raised over $5,000 additional dollars!  It is time for a new dream for our friends in Twachiyanda.  Junior and senior high students have been meeting over the past year on Tuesday nights as part of our One Life Team.  They have decided to join forces with an organization in San Diego which has ponsored a Walk Their Walk event to raise money for more wells in Twachiyanda.  When we were in Zambia, we learned that Twachiyanda still needs over 100 more wells for its population of over 37,000 to have adequate access to clean water.  On September 13 the San Diego walk raised over 14,000.  On November 15 (rain date is November 16) we will be hosting our own Walk Their Walk at Duke Island Park!   This event will be a 5 K Walk/Run.  Our goal is to match San Diego's $14,000. We are already $5,000 toward our goal. Please save the date and join us for this community event. We will be Inviting other churches, community groups and friends to join us, but we need your help!  We will need both participants and event staff to make this effort a success.  Look for sign-ups for event help soon.
