The Womack's in Lebanon

at Bound Brook Presbyterian Church during its May 2008 meeting the Session the took the following actions:

• To sponsor  Deanna and Mike Womack for their first year as Presbyterian Church USA volunteer missionaries to Zahle, Lebanon;
• Provided  $2,000 from the Capital Campaign Mission Budget to help cover their expenses during this time; and
• Put a link to their web site on our church's web site acknowledging our sponsorship and encouraging members to visit their website.
  
  In its budget for 2009, the Mission Outreach Commission continued the church's support for the Womacks as they returned to Lebanon for their second year as volunteers in mission, now serving in the Lebanese Evangelical School for Girls and Boys (see Lebanese Evangelical School for Boys and Girls /)in Hazmeih, Lebanon (just north of Beirut). From a recent blog entry, they report on their new responsibilities: Mike went straight to work today, teaching his three classes of sophomore English. I will be observing chapels and Bible classes this week and starting to lead chapels soon. After assessing the Bible classes for grades 1-5, which is something that has not been done recently, I will develop a Bible curriculum for those grades. This will be a big and exciting project for me and should be of great benefit to this school and might also be shared with other Evangelical schools in Lebanon. Currently, there is no set curriculum and teachers are in charge of creating their own lessons. The school needs a curriculum that takes into account the religious makeup of the student body - half Muslim and half Christian from all different denominations - and most Sunday school or Christian school curriculum available from the US is written for a different cultural context.
